Thomas DeFrantz, award-winning author and professor of African and African-American Studies at Duke University, will be one of our keynote speakers on Friday, 9 March 2018.  He has written the authoritative book on Alvin Ailey’s dance company called “Dancing Revelations.” His group Slippage explores dance at the edges of technology and sound.

Toshiya Ueno is professor of Transcultural Studies at Wako University in Japan.  He is a ground-breaking author including works such as “Urban Tribal Studies,” now in an updated edition.  He also plays music as the DJ Toshiya the Tribal, including a recent appearance at the legendary underground music and art event Zipang 2017.
